Special instruction for PC users:

Michigan Relay consumers who use personal computers are able to use their communication software to allow them to receive and transmit data.  You will also need to make sure your set up will allow you to connect to Michigan Relay Center.  You can dial 800-649-3777 or 711 when calling voice parties.  This option saves time and speeds up the connection time of your call.

It is very simple to set up.  For those who already have HYPERTRM installed skip to #10.  Just follow the instructions:  For those who have PC Windows 95/98:

  1. Click on Start
  2. Click on Settings
  3. Click on Control Panel
  4. Double-click on ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS
  5. Click on WINDOWS SETUP tab
  6. Double-click on COMMUNICATIONS
  7. Put a CHECK on hyperTerminal then press OK button
  8. Press APPLY (be sure to have your Windows 95 OR 98 CD in the CD-ROM Drive) then it will install the program, then press OK button.
  9. Close ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS PROPERTIES and close CONTROL PANEL.
  10. Click on Start
  11. Click on Programs

  18. In the next window, type the phone number  800-649-3777or 711.  Your Windows software is smart enough to pick the right modem you have in your system.  Press OK, button.
  19. Go ahead to test by press Dial button call MRC.

Watch on dial and wait until it is connected, and wait for the Relay to respond first, then you can type and talk with representative.  Or ask representative to call any hearing person.

If the call failed then go to FILE to find Properties under it.  Click on Properties.  Select which port that your modem is on "com1 or com2" (by default) and check for correct settings.
